Business Development Manager (BDM®)

Many dealerships today recognize the importance of having someone champion their BD efforts. This role is commonly referred to as a Business Development Manager (BDM®). A BDM should be welcomed to and considered part of your management team.

The most successful BDMs possess automotive experience and are typically next in line for executive level management positions within the organization. A BDM in their daily course will affect and impact 100% of a dealership's business opportunities. This is not a role to be decided on lightly.

The daily practice of business development is guided by the BDM who provides training, direction, discipline, and skills needed in the BDC®.This management position supplies the dealership with a new avenue for developing other future leadership and a day-to-day approach to working with and growing your associates.

The roles of tracking, training, coaching, and demonstrating define the position of the BDM and prepare him or her for future management positions. As an ally, the BDM ensures every sales consultant, call agent and manager is successfully working the dealership’s plan towards creating appointment opportunities for sales, service and parts.

Traver Technologies can assist the dealership in selecting and training a BDM and provide compensation plans that fit within the dealership's expense structure. Your BDM should attend several BD College classes in their first year to ensure they have the knowledge and ability to be successful in this role. Your assigned Senior Account Executive (SAE) can provide direction on this learning path.

In addition to the initial year’s BDM training, Traver Technologies provides other training specifically designed to further develop the skills of the BDM in-dealership.
